This foyer was originally dark with dark wood trim. Crown molding, higher baseboards and lighter tile were added. The trim was painted, as well as the spindles on the staircase. Custom carpet design on the stairs highlights the curved staircase, and the custom striped paint by Mattingly Custom Finishes completes the dramatic overall look.

Four custom made two seat chairs are arranged around a large cocktail table for conversation. Custom designed mirror gives the room more depth, while custom paint on the south wall with the addition of crown molding and higher base boards provides interest to the monochromatic color scheme. An existing desk and chair were refinished. Windows were protected with a UV film, and Roman shades with custom dyed tapes complete the look. Reupholstered 25-year-old Henredon cane back chairs, framed an existing oriental screen in a black shiny frame, and added shades to the chandelier to add volume. Removed old counter and cabinet, added niche with halogen lights for a small angel collection, added pedestal sink, pendant light and new mirror. Custom stripe paint by Mattingly Home Decorating.

Client requested a professional home office — one where he could work efficiently when required to work at home. The office furniture was chosen for maximum use of a small space, providing computer space for a docking station, monitor, scanner and printer. He required plenty of filing and work space.
